27 Websites That Became Books

November 19, 2008

The AV Club has published a list of its favorite websites that have been made into books. My favorites from their list is Garfield Minus Garfield (HT to DK), Indexed, and The Joys of Engrish. And despite the rumors, there are NO PLANS for a Rethynk book… mainly because nobody cares.

You can see AV’s list HERE.

Stealing from Obama

November 17, 2008

Former Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu has stolen from President-elect Barack Obama. As seen in the screenshot below, the current candidate has basically plagiarized the Obama website (flipping the div structure though) and color/media marketing scheme. Its not a bad idea, shoot I even predicted that Obama’s awesome web 2.0 movement would make him president number 44!

Time to Laugh

November 17, 2008

This movie was on this weekend and I forgot how funny this scene was. My wife and I were laughing so hard we almost threw up. Enjoy.

Not Again

November 16, 2008

As a youth pastor, how do you be what your students need when THIS happens?

Touching Strangers

November 14, 2008

HT to Sully on this.

Photo-artist Richard Renaldi posted a body of work called Touching Strangers. Its basically photos of random strangers who were asked to touch, hold, or embrace eachother for a photograph. Take some time to check out the whole collection, which is a great spectacle on the human community, IMO.

Check out the project online, HERE.

Bittersweet Vindication

November 14, 2008

HT to Sullivan for this nugget. Peter Schiff went on every network news program he could 2 years ago trying to warn people of the EXACT economic crisis we are in today.

No one would listen.

The yahoos at FOX News even laughed at him (3:50). What jerks and what a clear indication of the conservative implosion at hand.

Ben Stein was just DEAD wrong (4:17 and 6:15)… not the first time.

Anyways, Mr. Schiff… you were right.

I hope your “right streak” is over…

Strange Dinner Pics

November 12, 2008

We went out to dinner last night as a family and saw a couple of strange things worthy of the iPhone cam and a posting here.

First, someone not only parked a motorcycle in a car space, but he TOOK UP TWO SPOTS with it! My wife wanted to wait for him to come out and then confront him about it… we didn’t.

Next, we noticed this sign had a type-o on it… except it was on both sides of the sign which means someone actually thinks this is how you spell “delicious”. Delicius sound more like the name of an obscure Roman emperor… “All hail, Ceasar Maximus Delicius III !”

Backstage Pass

November 12, 2008

The Smoking Gun has a site feature which highlights the best (aka the worst) of riders from famous music acts and celebrites called Backstage Pass The list is fairly comprehensive and you can see what your favorite artist DEMANDS be waiting for them backstage. Some of my favs include Clay Aiken (must be allergic to nuts), Creed, Amy Grant (no alcohol but a corkscrew? hmm) and Bjork.

Take a LOOK and come back and tell me which ones jump out at you.

A New Day

November 11, 2008

Will.i.am’s new video:

I have to say, I find the renewed patriotism and celebration of Obama’s election win to be fascinating. If you just landed in the U.S. from an alien planet, you would probably assume that We the People were previously captive under some totalitarian regime and were freed by this Obama character. It is obviously just another shift of executive power but the hype surrounding it proves that this election meant an awful lot to black Americans and blacks everywhere.

It is also worth noting how art and creativity as well as alternative forms of communicating (web 2.0) were energized over the course of this election cycle. I think history will remember it as a miniature renaissance for both indie art and grassroots movements.
