Whats your rotation?

August 6, 2008

Every morning, I fire up the MacBook Pro and begin to feed my brain its ration of information for breakfast. I go through a rotation of sites and blogs for my info feast, an OCDish ritual that I MUST complete before beginning my day. Some of these sites are just for fun, some I feel deeply committed to for whatever reason, and some are just really good sources of news. Here is my basic rotation in loose order:

  1. my blog (you are here)
  2. my wife’s blog - making sure she’s keeping it real
  3. Drudge Report - often a good source of off the radar news
  4. ESPN.com - the latest in sports happenings
  5. Reuters - all the worlds news fresh off the wire
  6. Facebook - don’t know why, but I do
  7. Google Analytics - just to see if there are any anomalies in any sites I manage
  8. Twitter - I gotta know what the peeps are tweeting
  9. AZCentral - local news
  10. IGN - I’m gamer, hear me roar.
  11. Dumb Little Man - tips for living that I have yet to actually apply
  12. Gnucitizen - the ethical hacker outfit
  13. Deeper Walk devo - the only reason I visit Relevant anymore
  14. then I roll down the blog roll

There it is! I usually run through variations of it a couple times a day to keep myself informed. What does your rotation look like?

because i don’t have internet at home… my rotation is done at on my comp at work. as a result, my rotation is formatted a little differently.

the key to the work rotation is the random excel spreadsheet always laying in wait on the task bar (in case someone walks by it looks like you’re working).

after that is set up… my rotation goes something like this:

    1. facebook - i know, i know
    2. espn - i don’t have cable either so this is a must
    3. gmail - new email account with info from friends and family
    4. yahoomail - old account… just make sure i’m not missing anything
    5. baseballamerica - interesting reading… sometimes regarding old teammates
    6. azcentral - i live here now, might as well keep up to date

there are a few others that get mixed in from time to time (clearly nick’s blog is in this category or i would have never posted this… dirrrr), but i would say these are the ones i check most often.

    uh oh… someone’s comi…
